Design thinking is a problem-solving methodology that emphasizes understanding users, challenging assumptions, and generating innovative solutions. It involves a human-centered approach to design, focusing on empathy for the end-users, collaboration, creativity, and iteration.
In this section I will guide you through the phases of Design thinking, explaining what we as a design team did in creation of Trading app, where my role was leading the team from the beginning.
The key stages of design thinking include:
-
Empathize: Gain a deep understanding of the users' needs, desires, and challenges through observation, interviews, and immersion in their experiences.
User personas - definition
Empathy mapping
-
Define: Clearly articulate the problem statement based on the insights gathered during the empathy phase. This involves synthesizing data and reframing the problem in a human-centered way.
User Journey Mapping

Information Architecture
-
Ideate: Generate a wide range of creative solutions to address the defined problem.
I've encourage brainstorming, exploration of different perspectives, and the use of diverse techniques such as story mapping, sketching, and rapid prototyping.
-
Prototype: Build low-fidelity (wireframes) and high-fidelity prototypes of potential solutions to test and gather feedback.
Prototypes can take various forms, from sketches and wireframes to physical models or digital mockups.
The prototypes are on the left-hand side, after rounds of testing each iteration was improved.
-
Test: Collect feedback from users by testing prototypes in real-world scenarios. This stage involves observing how users interact with the prototypes, identifying pain points, and refining solutions based on user insights.
-
Iterate: Use the feedback gathered during testing to refine and improve the prototypes. Iterate on the design based on user feedback, continually refining and evolving the solution to better meet user needs.
Design thinking is a flexible and iterative process that encourages collaboration, experimentation, and learning from failure. It can be applied to a wide range of challenges, from product design and innovation to business strategy and organizational change.
By focusing on empathy, creativity, and user-centricity, design thinking enables teams to develop solutions that are truly impactful and meaningful for users.
